New Seminar "Fundamentals Additive Manufacturing"

Additive manufacturing processes have been known from research for a long time and have been increasingly used in industrial applications for several years. Switzerland has sound AM know-how and is therefore ideally positioned for successful industrial implementation. Additive manufacturing enables Swiss industry to increase its competitiveness.

Training and further education in this area is therefore essential for speeding up implementation in Swiss industry: at the end of January 2018, the AM seminar series (basics, design, production) of the sfb Bildungszentrum, supported by Swissmem's SAMG (Swiss Additive Manufacturing Group), the National Thematic Network AM-Network and the BWI (Continuing Education Management), will be launched.

The practice-oriented seminars are held at industrial suppliers and research institutes that are active in additive manufacturing. The seminar conveys both basic knowledge and decision-making fundamentals, to test and implement this new technology. At the same time, participants are given the opportunity to visit a modern AM production facility.

The one-day AM-Fundamentals course enables participants to decide if AM is suitable for their company.

For this preliminary decision, the participants will be given contact persons for further questions, will experience the state of the art, be able to estimate the possibilities and limitations of AM technology and will be able to find out which basic conditions (costs, etc.) must be met.
