Funding for the world’s first 3D printing technology in space for Munich University of Applied Sciences and DCUBED
The MASS-PEX project, launched in January 2024, aims to advance in-space manufacturing (ISM) by developing and testing a complete system for manufacturing structures from photopolymers using 3D printing in space, with the added innovation of reinforcing structures with fibers. This initiative, funded by the Bavarian Space Research Program, holds promise for revolutionizing satellite design and manufacturing processes, while also securing opportunities for practical experimentation in open space through partnerships such as the Swedish-German space program.
